Love this series!!!!! I can't wait to start the next book!!! So captivating!!Well written! So hard to put down!!!
Such a great story. This ending tore at my heart and I can't wait until I hit the end of the entire series.
At the end of book 3 Eliana really wanted to believe she had found her happy ending. Everything was falling into place, the unicorns had been rescued, she and Jay were exploring their new relationship and of course, Baby Fae was perfect! Alas, it was but the calm before the storm. And what a storm! There were parts of this story that were foreshadowed and inevitable and therefore predictable, but also a few I did not see coming. Aptly titled, this is perhaps the most personal expression of the curse we have seen so far in the series. This is book 4 in the Rumpelstiltskin arc which is a serial and must be read in order. It is the 5th such arc in the Kingdom of Fairytales series. While each set of 4 books can be read independently, they are starting to build towards a larger story. This is an honest and voluntary review of an ARC
J.A. Armitage’s Kingdom of Fairytales multi-series concept is really an ideal template - what happens after the “happily ever after” in classic fairytales - for multiple series, and she’s certainly taken advantage of it in multiple series either written by herself or co-authored with others. That’s certainly the case with the Kingdom of Fairytales: Rumpelstiltskin she’s coauthored with Jennifer Ellison. I’ve not read anything by the latter author previously but that’s one of the beauties of this over-arching multi-series collection: it introduces me to new authors with a sort of quality seal as I can trust that Armitage will choose her co-authors well. She absolutely did this time as each of the books in this series, Queen of Unicorns (Book 1), Heiress of Gold (Book 2), Throne of Sacrifice (Book 3) and Goddess of Loss (Book 4) was superbly written and the overarching story arc is perfect. Taking place 18 years after the end of the classic tale, Rumpelstiltskin is back in the Vale, unicorns are being hunted down and the heroine here, Eliana, is seemingly facing insurmountable odds. Ehss as t follows over the course of these four books is a really wonderful and exciting tale that’s easy to highly recommend and definitely makes me want to find more books by the co-author here (I’m already addicted to Armitage so reading her books is a given). One caveat: I’ve reviewed these all at once as this series really is best read from Book 1 on, though that’s actually easy to do as each is fast to read.
