This is mostly for kids. It's not what I expected. I guess I thought it would be a "young adult" to "mature" reader category, and feature a compelling re-telling of the story (like that Wizard of Oz book that centered around Alphaba), but it's not like this.If I had to summarize this book: It's highschool girl gossip, but in Agrabah. If you're looking for a nice little book to give your tween daughter, this is a great book. if you're looking for something more, I might suggest the original 1001 Nights/Aladdin books. They're still great, even to this day.
The whole series of different retellings of fairy tales has been captivating. If I have enough free time I can read 3 a day. They are that interesting!
This story is so much more than I thought it would be. Gaia is a very strong character and the twists in the story are not so off from the original, so this storyline connects well. It'll be interesting to see where the next book goes.
